Newcastle United ready to let first-team star leave this summer
Next summer could be one of significant change for Newcastle United. Right now, the focus has to be on making sure that they do not end up getting relegated but in the future, one would expect The Magpies to move swiftly up the table and potentially even start competing for trophies and top four finishes. Thus, it is safe to say that the winds of change are blowing around St James’ Park.
There are several areas that Eddie Howe might look to strengthen when the transfer window reopens. And one of them appears to be goalkeeper.
The club have recently been linked with the likes of Chelsea’s Kepa Arizzabalaga, Manchester United’s Dean Henderson and a few other goalkeepers.
And as reported by 90min, Newcastle United have told current number one, Martin Dubravka, that they won’t stand in his way in the summer if the opportunity to move did arise.
Newcastle United are ready to let Dubravka leave in the summer
This is a surprising development to say the least, considering the fact that Dubravka has been one of Newcastle United’s most consistent performers this season. But, it looks like the club might be looking to improve further between the posts.
While Dubravka is a solid goalkeeper in his own right, he might potentially not be someone who can be a regular starter for a team with title aspirations.
The Magpies have been heavily linked with a move for Henderson recently, who has struggled for regular playing time this season at Manchester United, after falling behind David de Gea in the pecking order once again.
On the other hand, someone like Kepa Arizzabalaga could be a solid addition as well. While his reputation took a hit after his early struggles at Chelsea, there is no denying that the Spaniard has enjoyed a bit of a resurrection under the management of Thomas Tuchel.
