Newcastle United are expected to make a splash in the upcoming summer transfer window but even then, not many would have predicted that The Magpies would be linked with a move for Neymar. But that is exactly what happened recently, following Paris Saint-Germain’s elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid. The French club’s supporters booed the Brazilian in the next game.

But not many Newcastle United fans were convinced that making a move for Neymar would be the right step for the club.

He has an incredibly long history with injuries and on top of that, he is 30 years of age and appears to be on the decline. Five years back, signing Neymar would have been a no-brainer. These days, it does not make much sense.

The Magpies do not appear to have any plans to sign the Brazilian either. As reported by The Telegraph (via HITC), Newcastle United were amused to hear of their ‘interest’ in Neymar and have swiftly ruled out a move for the Paris Saint-Germain superstar.

Newcastle United have ruled out making move for Neymar

At this point of time, it would not make much sense to sign Neymar, at least when it comes to performances on the pitch.

Yes, on his day, he is still one of the world’s best and almost unplayable. But those days are few and between now.

It also looks like his best days are behind him as Neymar has struggled to make much of an impact this season. But despite that, if a club was to sign him, it would take a mammoth transfer fee. Paris Saint-Germain had to shell out a record €222 million to sign him from Barcelona in the summer of 2017.

Thus, do not expect to see Neymar in a Newcastle United jersey any time soon.
