Struggling Newcastle United star breaks all-time record
One of Newcastle United’s biggest problems right now is the lack of a consistent goalscorer up top. That is largely due to Chris Wood struggling to find the back of the net since his January arrival, when The Magpies were believed to have shelled out a £25 million transfer fee to sign him from Burnley. Till now, it is safe to say that the move has not worked as they would have hoped for.
With Callum Wilson out injured, Wood is the one who the club would have been relying on to produce the goals but he has not been able to do so.
Till now, Wood has only managed to score once for Newcastle United and his first half of the campaign with Burnley was not great either. It must be pointed out though that since his arrival, The Magpies have produced the results.
But while Wood might be struggling to get it done for Newcastle United, his form for his national team is very different. As reported by New Zealand Football, Wood broke the all-time record for most goals scored for the New Zealand men’s national team, as a brace took his tally to 30.

Newcastle United fans will surely be hoping that Wood starts producing the numbers at the club level as soon as possible as well.
While The Magpies have made a lot of progress over the past several weeks and are now in a good position in the Premier League, they are still not safe from relegation. And after back-to-back defeats, some doubts will start creeping in about whether their form is taking a downturn again.
A win or two more could be enough to get them past the line of safety though and those would be much easier to achieve if Wood can find the back of the net.
