Newcastle United might very well need to bring in a striker in the summer. Right now, The Magpies do not appear to have a reliable goalscorer in their squad. Their top scorer this season is Callum Wilson and even he scored only 6 goals before picking up an injury against Manchester United that has kept him out since December. Chris Wood was signed in January in a £25 million deal but he has struggled in front of goal since moving to St James’ Park.

Thus, it would not be a surprise to see Newcastle United try to sign another striker when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

When it comes to strikers, there are very few more exciting than Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Newcastle United were linked with him in January as well.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia), Newcastle United will make an attempt to sign Osimhen at the end of the season.

Newcastle United will try to sign Osimhen

It will be interesting to see what kind of an offer Newcastle United end up making for Osimhen. Rumours have suggested that Napoli will look for a transfer fee in the range of €100 million to let the striker leave and over the years, the Italian side have proven to be tough negotiators, not letting their players go if their valuation is not met.

There will be a lot of interest in Osimhen’s signature if he does indeed end up leaving Napoli at the end of the season. Clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal and many more could try to sign him.

It is not hard to see why there is so much interest in Osimhen, who has been a standout player in Serie A this season and is the primary reason why Napoli are challenging for the Scudetto.
