Bruno Guimarães is confident that Newcastle United will strengthen their squad in the summer with the aim of going after a place in the UEFA Champions League.
The last few months have been very exciting for Newcastle United fans, with the takeover leading many to believe that the club will reach new heights in the coming seasons.
The ambitious new owners showed a glimpse of what is to come with the signings of Bruno Guimarães, Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood and Dan Burn during the January transfer window. And the Brazilian international is already aiming high for next season.
Bruno Guimarães predicts big things for Newcastle United’s future
In an interview with ge.globo, Guimarães said that he really believes in the Newcastle United project. The midfielder also added that he expects the club to bring in further reinforcements in the summer with the aim of securing a spot in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League football for the upcoming season:
"“It was a risk, but I also believe in the project. The fans are passionate about the team, it’s too different. We reinforced each other well. Next season I believe it will strengthen very well to seek, who knows, a spot in the Champions League, in the Europa League. From now on, it’s a team to compete for to be champions of the Premier League. I believe a lot in the project and I hope that everything works out as it was passed on to me.”"
Guimarães’ words will certainly please the Newcastle United fans, with the midfielder already a fan favourite at St James’ Park. The 24-year-old has made an instant impact at the club, and opened his account for the club with a stunning finish earlier this month.
Newcastle United will no doubt have a busy summer transfer window, as they look to bring in reinforcements all over the pitch. They have already been linked with a number of exciting players in recent weeks.
Guimarães will certainly have a key role to play if Newcastle United are to realise their aim of finishing in the top four of the Premier League and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League in the near future. Let’s see what the future holds but things are looking very, very bright for The Magpies at this point of time.
