Eddie Howe favourite likely to join Newcastle United
Newcastle United’s transformation since the arrival of Eddie Howe as manager is admirable. When he joined the club, it was looking like they were headed for relegation. Just a few months on, and The Magpies are one of the most in-form teams in all of Europe, and might very well make a run for a top 10 finish in the Premier League. That is a tremendous effort from the manager and all the players.
One of the best moves that Howe has made since coming in is signing Dan Burn from Brighton & Hove Albion.
While the move might have raised a few eyebrows at first, it has proven to be a masterstroke in hindsight as Burn has been a rock at the back for Newcastle United. Now, it looks like the club might look to add further options in defence in the summer.
And it appears that Bournemouth captain, Lloyd Kelly, is one of the most likely names to join Newcastle United in the summer. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones said:
"“Yeah, of all the names mentioned at Newcastle and of all the different profiles, Lloyd Kelly, I’m told, is one of the most likely to actually join the club.”"
Kelly could end up joining Newcastle United in the summer
When you think of the kind of signings that Newcastle United will potentially make in the summer, Kelly is not one of the first names that comes to mind.
But then, Howe has already shown that he has ability to pick out players who fit perfectly into his system. Thus, the fans must trust the manager and his judgement.
Kelly has a ton of potential. Bournemouth signed him in the summer of 2019, when Howe was still the manager of The Cherries and since then, the defender has gone on to become the captain of the club despite the fact that he is just 23 years of age.
Thus, someone like Kelly could prove to be a solid long-term signing for Newcastle United. Now, it remains to be seen if they are able to bring him to St James’ Park.
