Newcastle United have already made a splash in the transfer market, by making some significant additions in January. That helped Eddie Howe bring their campaign back on track and now, even though they have lost back-to-back games, it does feel like they are safe from relegation or at least very close to it. The Magpies would not be expected to stop there though and look set for a major overhaul next summer.

Significant signings are expected to be made but at the same time, there are a lot of players who could head for the exit door as well.

Jamal Lewis is someone who had arrived at Newcastle United with a lot of expectations surrounding him, but has not been able to make much of an impact at St James’ Park.

The 24-year-old has barely featured this season till now. And, as reported by Football Insider, Newcastle United have decided that they will let Lewis go as part of a major summer overhaul.

Newcastle United appear to be ready to let Lewis leave in the summer

Lewis had impressed immensely when he had first broken into the senior level with Norwich City. But since joining Newcastle United, he has not been able to take that next step.

Lewis has not been able to find a place for himself in Howe’s plans. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made just 6 appearances for The Magpies this season, featuring for 353 minutes of football.

Thus, a move away from St James’ Park might very well be the best step for both the player and the club at this point of time.

Despite his underwhelming run at Newcastle United, Lewis has a lot of potential and is still just 24 years. Thus, if he was to leave in the summer, there should not be any lack of interest in his signature.
