Frank Lampard makes Newcastle United confession
Newcastle United suffered a huge blow when they conceded in the 99th minute against Everton and ended up losing 1-0 away at Goodison Park. Chelsea had handed them a late 1-0 defeat in their previous Premier League game as well and as a result, some doubts might be starting to creep back in amongst the fans. While it does look like The Magpies are safe from relegation, we all know how quickly things can change in football.
A win against Everton would have been the perfect result for Newcastle United. But they could not deliver on the day, and were nowhere near their best to be honest.
On the other hand, Frank Lampard must have been delighted when Alex Iwobi scored the winner to hand Everton three very important points, as they look to avoid relegation themselves.
Lampard seems to have been impressed with what he has seen from Newcastle United though. As reported by Chronicle Live, the Everton manager told Amazon Prime Video Sport:
"“These are a good team.“Newcastle will be all right.“They don’t need me to say that for them, but I just think they’re well-coached. They’ve bought really well, some really good players. They’re strong, they’re physical. There was a lot of really good things going on for them.”"

At this point of time, Newcastle United are sitting on 31 points from 29 Premier League games and despite their last two defeats, have been one of the most in-form teams in all of Europe this year.
The worry for Howe’s side though is the run of fixtures that they have moving forward. The Magpies are yet to face the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Wolves.
The game against Burnley could be a potential ‘six pointer’ as well, depending on how the previous results go. And Crystal Palace can prove to be tough opponents too. Norwich City do look set for the drop though.
All things considered, Newcastle United are not over the line of safety yet. But just a win or two more could be enough to get them there.
