Newcastle United have already strengthened their squad considerably to the point where they have been one of the most in-form teams in all of Europe this year. And while they once appeared headed for relegation, The Magpies are now in contention to finish in the top half of the Premier League table. Thus, Eddie Howe and the players deserve tremendous credit for the incredible turnaround in such a short span of time.

But at the same time, one would expect the team to look to strengthen even further in the future and Newcastle United should have an eye on a European spot next season.

Thus, it would not be a big surprise to see them splash out in the summer transfer window as well and it looks like Georginio Wijnaldum’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain is something that will interest The Magpies.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Wijnaldum will prioritise a move back to England in the summer if he does not feel that he is a part of PSG’s long-term plans. Newcastle United are believed to be keeping an eye on the situation along with Arsenal and West Ham United. AC Milan and Atletico Madrid seem to hold an interest in the Dutch international as well.

Could Wijnaldum complete dream return to Newcastle United?

Wijnaldum has always been considered as one of the players who got away. But now, Newcastle United could potentially have a chance to bring him back.

Wijnaldum departed Liverpool last summer, and it had looked like he was bound to join FC Barcelona, before ultimately choosing to join PSG instead.

It is safe to say that things have not gone his way in the French capital. The Dutch international has not featured as regularly as he would have liked, and now 31 years of age, he would certainly not want to sit on the bench during the last few years of his prime as a footballer.
