Newcastle United are a team in form at the moment. In fact, they have been one of the best teams in Europe ever since the turn of the calendar and while the club seemed headed for the drop at one point in the season, right now, a top ten finish in the Premier League does not seem out of question. Only four points separate them and 10th-placed Southampton, and Eddie Howe’s side have a game in hand.

Thus, it is safe to say that The Magpies are flying high at the moment, and both the manager and the players deserve immense credit for turning the season around. There could very well be more good news on the horizon though.

Callum Wilson has been out of action through injury for the past several months. But now, it looks like a return might not be very far away. The Newcastle United striker has been back training in the gym with his teammates recently.

And as reported by Football Insider, a Newcastle United source has said that Wilson is making good progress on his recovery and has targeted a possible return against Norwich City on April 23.

While Wilson appears to be making progress, his return to the pitch might still be more than a month away.

He had been one of the few bright spots in the first half of the campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Wilson has scored 6 goals in 15 Premier League games this season.

And that was before Newcastle United hit top form. Thus, it will be interesting to see how he does in this team, once he is fit once again.

It must be said that The Magpies have done quite well in his absence, even though Wilson still remains the club’s top scorer this season.
