Eddie Howe reacts to Thomas Tuchel’s celebrations vs Newcastle United
For the majority of the game, it had looked like Newcastle United were set to earn themselves a well-deserved draw against Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge. One could even argue that they should have gotten more than that as a couple of decisions did not go The Magpies’ way. Many felt that Eddie Howe’s side should have gotten a penalty and there was a controversial moment when Kai Havertz could have been shown a red card.
Both decisions ended up going Chelsea’s way and then, it was Havertz, who came up with a late winner, as he scored a great goal to hand Newcastle United a 1-0 defeat.
It was not the result that The Magpies were looking for but they must be proud of the effort that they put in on the day.
Another controversial moment coming out of the game though was Thomas Tuchel’s celebrations when Chelsea managed to score the winner. But it looks like Howe did not make too much of the matter. As reported by Chronicle Live, the Newcastle United manager said:
"“I don’t think there was anything directed at us.“It was just that moment, from his perspective, where he scored late in the game.“I didn’t see it as disrespectful. I’ve got a lot of respect for Thomas and how he works and how he conducts himself. I understand these things happen and he was caught in his moment.”"

At this point of time, Chelsea are going through a very difficult phase off the pitch and the club’s future is uncertain.
In many ways, Tuchel’s celebration seemed to be one of relief, after what must have been a very difficult week for the German manager as well as his players. One can certainly see his side of the matter.
For Newcastle United, the biggest thing will be that they lost the game and this brings an end to their incredible undefeated streak in the Premier League, which had dated back to last December.
But at some point of time, it was bound to come to an end, and losing away from home against the European champions is nothing to be ashamed about, especially with decisions going against them.
