Last weekend, Newcastle United finally broke out of a seven-match winless run. They enter tomorrow’s match vs. 4th-place West Ham United one position above the relegation zone, six points clear of Fulham.

It’s fair to expect that the Hammers will go into St. James’ Park and pick up all three points against a club 13 spots below them. However, the oddsmakers don’t seem to think an upset win by NUFC is out of the question.

The Action Network does have Newcastle United as the underdogs, rightfully so against a top-four club at the moment. But, they are listed as a reasonable +291 to get the win.

West Ham United are listed at +103 to get the victory, meaning bettors have them as far from a lock to defeat Newcastle. The draw comes in at +298, which would be the same result as last year’s fixture between these sides on Tyneside.

10th-place Leeds United are actually bigger underdogs at home against Liverpool this weekend than Newcastle are vs. West Ham. While they are away, 16th-place Burnley are +967 to upset Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The expected goals (xG) between the Magpies and the Hammers is 2.75 with both clubs scoring at least two goals in back-to-back matches. With multiple injuries on the backline for each side, there should be some chances available throughout the match.

Newcastle United did go on the road to defeat West Ham United to start this season with goals from Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick. But, this is a very different West Ham side, especially with the addition of Jesse Lingard in January.
