Proof that Bruce has mismanaged this £57m trio at Newcastle United
For most of this season, the focus for Newcastle United fans has been on the attacking trio of Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Callum Wilson.
When they were healthy, it was a positive thought of how exciting they are when playing together. As they’ve battled injuries, the tone has been hopeful that they will save the season when they are all fit.
Almiron returned in the last match and Saint-Maximin and Wilson were seen jogging at training and are nearing a return. Unfortunately, the stats indicate that no matter if the trio is healthy or not, Steve Bruce isn’t qualified to manage them to success.
This season, Almiron, Saint-Maximin, and Wilson have played in nine matches together, ten if you include the 10/17 match vs. Manchester United when they were on the pitch for less than five minutes together.
These stats show that Steve Bruce isn’t qualified to manage Newcastle’s star attacking trio.
In those matches, Newcastle have only won four times. Two of those victories came among the four matches that the trio started together. Yes, those four wins make up a majority of the club’s seven wins on the season.
But, they should have more positive results in that list of matches and likely would if Bruce wasn’t the manager. He had that explosive trio playing in an ultra-defensive system and also started the season with Miggy playing as a substitute for some reason.
While Newcastle’s chances to survive this season will be better once the trio is back out there together, Bruce’s incompetence has shown that getting positive results with them is far from a guarantee.
