Allan Saint-Maximin is the biggest star at Newcastle United. He’s one of the most electrifying talents in the Premier League when he has the ball at his feet and gives the club a potent threat when he’s driving the attack forward.

But, the 24-year-old is currently sidelined, along with Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson, by a groin injury that he suffered against Wolves. While injuries are a part of the game, they have become a main piece to Saint-Maximin’s puzzle at Newcastle United.

Since arriving from OGC Nice in the summer of 2019, Saint-Maximin has battled more than a few injuries. The list includes injuries to his hamstring (multiple times), thigh, ankle, calf, and now groin. He’s also missed time due to COVID-19.

According to TransfrMarkt.us, Saint-Maximin has missed 178 days. In that time, he’s been out for 31 matches. 23 of those fixtures have been in the Premier League. Newcastle United have only won three of those matches, lost 12, and finished level eight times.

Newcastle United’s biggest star has a problem that won’t seem to go away.

In fairness to the French winger, he is at-risk for a lot of fouls due to his dribble-heavy playing style. He also relies upon his pace a lot, making him more likely to suffer muscle injuries, especially in his legs.

Obviously, when he’s on the pitch and fit, he’s a gamechanger. He’s been electric since his arrival and completely transforms the look of the team. But, the best ability is availability and he can’t seem to remain available for the Magpies.
