Newcastle United put in a decent performance against Aston Villa, but they only came away with a point. The Magpies needed and deserved all three points, but now they must give it their all against Brighton.

A cup final is exactly what this next game will be for both sides. Fulham’s recent form indicates that they will stay up, but Newcastle United and Brighton have their backs against the wall.

Both teams have next weekend’s game circled on their calendars as a must-win battle, and the result could very well dictate the fate of both clubs in the end. That being said, Steve Bruce and his coaching staff might be forced to make this bold move.

I could be way off on this one, but Callum Wilson will start at the Amex Stadium. Given the current state of the team, Bruce knows he needs his top striker on the pitch even if he is not at 100%.

Dangerous, but smart move for Newcastle United?

This decision is the equivalent of investing in a new stock with plenty of hype. It’s either high reward, or you will feel the consequences shortly after putting in the money.

Based on all the updates from Wilson on social media, he seems to be recovered and ready to go. Despite not training much with the team, Bruce might just have to take this gamble, especially in this game against direct relegation rivals.

With the international break right around the corner, Wilson would have an additional two weeks to rest up if he begins feeling any soreness, or fatigue, but Newcastle United need him.

Dwight Gayle is capable of scoring goals, but he isn’t seeing much of the ball. Then there is Joelinton, who is clearly afraid to shoot the ball and is wasting golden opportunities.

The Magpies need Wilson now more than ever. His  positional acumen, composure on the ball, and clinical finishing can influence the outcome in the game against Brighton. It is a risk, but Wilson needs to lace up and carry this team.
