Bruce, Newcastle should be ashamed of how they are treating this player

Newcastle United need to play their best available squad in every game until some key players recover from injuries. With winnable games coming up against West Brom (19th), Brighton (16th), and Burnley (15th), Steve Bruce needs to turn on his common sense and drop Joelinton.

The Brazilian is one of the worst signings in club history, and he is definitely the worst player Newcastle United have purchased since earning promotion a few years ago. So, why does he keep starting games? He is useless.

You know who should be starting every game until Callum Wilson returns? Dwight Gayle. That selection is the most obvious decision Bruce can make, yet he continues to ignore him. Gayle saved Bruce last season when he scored four times in the final stage of the season, but he has been tossed to the side this term.

Gayle is the best available striker in the squad at the moment, but he is also one of the most neglected players at Newcastle United. That trend should have ended months ago, but it certainly needs to end by Sunday.

Dwight Gayle deserves to start the next few games for Newcastle United.

Bruce’s misuse of the player is one thing, but the silence from the front office is also surprising. This is a player who guided the club to promotion in 2016, scored some critical goals in 2017, was loaned out in 2018, came back to fight for his place in the squad and fired in four goals to help secure a mid-table finish.

Now this is how he is treated? No mention of a new contract? My personal opinion is that Gayle should be calling his agent to land a meaningful role elsewhere, but he at least deserves to be offered a new contract for his contribution.

Who else will the club turn to? Yoshinori Muto, Andy Carroll, and Joelinton are not meant to play in the Premier League. They literally bring nothing to the table.

Gayle, on the other hand, knows how to get into dangerous positions, is appropriately selfish when he has a look at goal, and with proper support he is capable of finding the back of the net five or six more times until the end of the season.

Next. March has decided NUFC’s fate in the past.... dark

Ridiculous, embarrassing, and shameful are three words that quickly come to mind when thinking about how Dwight Gayle has been treated by Steve Bruce and the club. Things need to change ASAP, especially if they want to avoid playing in the Championship next season.
