Newcastle United looked considerably better today in the first half vs. Manchester United than they did against Chelsea on Monday. But, the second half was a different story as both matches end with zero points for the Magpies. Marcus Rashford, Daniel James, and Bruno Fernandes scored for Man Utd in a 3-1 victory. Allan Saint-Maximin was the lone goalscorer for NUFC.

Just like against Chelsea, Emil Krafth was exposed by a speedy, skilled player out on the flank. Rashford nutmegged him and despite Krafth catching up to him, he couldn’t close the young Man Utd striker off and he beat Darlow near post.

Saint-Maximin was able to level things when he smashed in a loose ball after a poor clearance from Manchester United.

Unfortunately, the hosts had another goal up their sleeve. Jamal Lewis allowed James too much room in the box and he beat Darlow for the match-winner. Then, Joe Willock fouled Rashford in the area and Bruno converted from the spot.

A second-half collapse sees Newcastle United lose yet again vs. Man Utd.

Despite playing through an injury and subbing off early in the second half, Joelinton was an improvement on Dwight Gayle. He played largely on the right side as Miguel Almiron occupied the middle of the attack. Almiron was arguably the best player on the pitch for either club for a large portion of the match.

With the loss, Newcastle United have lost ten of their last 14 Premier League matches. The Magpies are only three points clear of 18th-place Fulham and level on matches played.

Next. NUFC will regret missing out on this gamechanger last month. dark
