Newcastle United received devastating injury news earlier this week with Steve Bruce announcing the lengthy absences coming up for Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schar, and Callum Wilson. But, the manager in the other dugout on Monday will also be missing a pair of key players.

According to Goal.com, Thomas Tuchel, who has taken over for Frank Lampard since the last meeting between these clubs, confirmed that Timo Werner should be available on Monday after leaving the Sheffield United match with an injury and missing the FA Cup win over Barnsley. He also stated that Andreas Christensen’s head injury was not “concussion-related”.

But, the news wasn’t as good for two other crucial players for the Blues. Kai Havertz and Thiago Silva will both be out against Newcastle United.

Havertz, who has struggled in his first season at Stamford Bridge, has missed three straight matches. After being a breakout star with Leverkusen, the 21-year-old only has five goals and six assists in all competitions.

Silva, the veteran central defender, had to exit Chelsea’s match vs. Spurs in the first half due to a leg injury and hasn’t returned yet. He has been the captain in his first season with Chelsea nine times in the Premier League.

While both players’ quality will be missed, neither is as big of a loss for Chelsea as Wilson is for Newcastle. Also, the return of Werner won’t be good news for Newcastle as he was running all over St. James’ Park in their last matchup and assisted on Tammy Abraham’s goal. The German forward has three assists in his last two EPL matches.
