£41m duo tops the player grades for Newcastle United vs. Everton
Callum Wilson scored his ninth and tenth goal of the season while Miguel Almiron outworks every opponent.
Miguel Almiron: A+
Outside of Wilson, Almiron had the best performance of the day for Newcastle United. He drove the ball forward with his dribbling or his passing. He played Wilson in perfectly as he made a run in the second half, but the eventual shot hit the post. Defensively, he was flying all over the pitch, pressuring anyone with the ball, and made James Rodriguez’s day quite unpleasant.
Callum Wilson: A+
After a recent goal drought from the run of play, the Newcastle United striker broke out in a big way. Despite a few close calls, he didn’t lose his confidence and buried a lovely header over Jordan Pickford and was composed to finish the insurance goal late. He’s the best striker Newcastle United has had in quite a few years and it’s not particularly close.
Ciaran Clark: B
Back from an injury himself, Clark had to step in for the injured Lascelles and did his job to help keep the clean sheet.
Allan Saint Maximin: B+
Providing a spark again off the bench, Saint-Maximin continued to work his way back from his lengthy absence. He had a few brilliant moments on the ball, as he’s known to do, and helped play Lewis forward to help set up the second goal from Wilson.
