Jamal Lewis and Jonjo Shelvey set up Callum Wilson’s goals.

Jamaal Lascelles: B-

The Newcastle United skipper picked up a hamstring injury today, continuing a troubling trend of being injury prone. When he was out there, it was a typical performance from the center-back. He picked up an early yellow card for a rough challenge.

Jamal Lewis: A

With the club playing a bit more in the attack, Lewis looked confident down the left side today vs. Everton. He was able to get forward on the break late in the match to send a perfect ball across to Callum Wilson for his second goal.

Ryan Fraser: B+

He was his usual shifty self today and played a lovely pass to Wilson, but the striker’s effort went wide. His corner kick delivery was inconsistent throughout the match with some quality then some duds.

Jeff Hendrick: B-

Always quick to be criticized, Hendrick was more of a neutral performer today than positive or negative. While you’d prefer see him help control the midfield, Newcastle fans will be pleased that he wasn’t a major detriment to the club. He had a stiff challenge late that earned him a yellow card and was potentially reviewed by VAR to determine if a red was merited.

Jonjo Shelvey: A-

From a corner kick, Shelvey picked up the assist on Wilson’s opening goal. His delivery found the striker right where it needed to and he was able to convert. He had two chances to make a difference on free kicks in good range, but both efforts were over the crossbar.
