With rumors of this winger being moved this month, Newcastle United should give him a final opportunity to showcase his skills.

Without Allan Saint-Maximin for a large portion of the season thus far, Newcastle United have lacked production or explosiveness from their wingers. While he can’t match the supreme skills of Saint-Maximin, this Newcastle United outcast with only ten minutes played all season could bring some playmaking and pace to the flanks for the Magpies.

Rumored to be close to an exit this month according to GhanaWeb.com, Christian Atsu could provide some firepower out wide for Steve Bruce’s side. It’s unlikely he breaks into the starting lineup consistently, but he has a unique skill set that could be useful off the bench.

In 24 total appearances last season, mostly as a substitute, the Ghanian picked up five assists. While he doesn’t have the goalscoring numbers of Miguel Almiron, he’s been a more consistent playmaker than the Paraguayan.

The current leader in assists for Newcastle United is striker Callum Wilson. The only other player with multiple Premier League assists is forward Joelinton. There’s no timetable for Saint-Maximin to return and Ryan Fraser has already battled multiple injuries this season. Just like Jacob Murphy got his chance to break into the rotation, Atsu should be deserving of that opportunity in the coming weeks.

The club is desperate for playmaking from out wide and Atsu could be that guy late in the match when Newcastle is more dangerous. With his contract up this summer, he is free to negotiate with other clubs and could leave on a loan move this month.
