Newcastle United went 0-3 vs. Leicester City last season, including losing both league matches by a combined 8-0 scoreline.

There was no club that destroyed Newcastle United last season worse than Leicester City. After a close call in the Carabao Cup, both Premier League battles were incredibly lopsided. Before the clubs meet on Sunday, we revisit those fixtures from last season.

James Maddison scored the opening goal from a free kick, courtesy of a deflection. But, an unlikely goalscorer would equalize for the Magpies in the EFL Cup. Yoshinori Muto tapped the ball in from close range to makes thing 1-1 in the second half. Each club had chances to find a winner, but the match would go on to penalty kicks where the Foxes came out on top.

While that league cup match was close, the first Premier League meeting between the clubs was not. Leicester City went ahead in the 16th minute, but the scoreline would remain 1-0 through halftime. However, the biggest moment of the match occurred right before the break with Isaac Hayden getting a straight red card.

The second half saw four more goals scored for Leicester, including a Paul Dummett own goal, and a dismal effort from the Newcastle United players.

Newcastle United were not welcomed kindly to 2020. Florian Lejeune, who was not far removed from his return from a knee injury, made two massive blunders in the back to gift Leicester two goals. After using all three substitutes, Fabian Schar had to exit the match with a hamstring injury early in the second half, leaving Newcastle with only ten men again.
