James Maddison scored the opening goal from a free kick, courtesy of a deflection. But, an unlikely goalscorer would equalize for the Magpies in the EFL Cup. Yoshinori Muto tapped the ball in from close range to makes thing 1-1 in the second half. Each club had chances to find a winner, but the match would go on to penalty kicks where the Foxes came out on top.
9/29/19: Leicester City 5, Newcastle United 0
While that league cup match was close, the first Premier League meeting between the clubs was not. Leicester City went ahead in the 16th minute, but the scoreline would remain 1-0 through halftime. However, the biggest moment of the match occurred right before the break with Isaac Hayden getting a straight red card.
The second half saw four more goals scored for Leicester, including a Paul Dummett own goal, and a dismal effort from the Newcastle United players.

Newcastle United were not welcomed kindly to 2020. Florian Lejeune, who was not far removed from his return from a knee injury, made two massive blunders in the back to gift Leicester two goals. After using all three substitutes, Fabian Schar had to exit the match with a hamstring injury early in the second half, leaving Newcastle with only ten men again.
