Former Magpie, fan favorite could make EPL return in January

The impact Salomon Rondon had at Newcastle United has not been forgotten by other Premier League clubs.
Newcastle United spent £20m to secure the services of Callum Wilson this summer in order to fill the void left behind by Salomon Rondon two seasons ago.
Wilson already has seven goals to his name this season, which is more than the combined tally of ALL four strikers that were used last season: six. The scoring woes last term only frustrated fans even more as the Toon Army constantly reminded the front office of the mistake they made with Rondon.
The Venezuelan international joined Newcastle United as a loanee from West Brom during the 2018-19 campaign. Rondon got off to a slow start, but he caught fire in November and finished the season with twelve goals and seven assists.
Looking at things from a different perspective, Rondon was directly involved in 45% of the Magpies’ goals. West Brom had a release clause of £16.5m for Rondon’s permanent transfer, but Newcastle United were not willing to pay more than £9m, which was a foolish call.
Rondon is now in China after following Rafa Benitez to Dalian Yifang, but he has the opportunity to return to the Premier League in a six-month deal. According to a report from Birmingham Live, Wolves see Rondon as a great replacement for the injured Raul Jimenez.
Wolves are known for their ability to effectively attack and score goals by spreading the ball out wide and feeding the strikers with quality crosses in the penalty area. Rondon would absolutely thrive in that system.
It remains to be seen if Wolves will act on their interest, but Newcastle United fans can assure them that Rondon would be a stellar signing. He is definitely on the Toon Army’s list of “ones that got away.”
