Newcastle United are relieved to hear that Miguel Almiron avoided a major injury while on international duty.

Newcastle United will be back in action this weekend when they host Manchester United at St. James’ Park on Saturday. With all the drama surrounding the Red Devils for their support of the outrageous Premier League proposal drafted by Liverpool, all eyes will be on this clash to see if the Magpies can pile on more misery for Harry Maguire and company.

Steve Bruce’s side is currently ninth in the table with seven points through four games, and it looks like he will not have to worry much about injuries to key players. Miguel Almiron was in action for Paraguay against Peru last week, but he left the game in the 95th minute with an injury.

According to a new report, the Paraguayan star was back in training with his national team, and he is in contention to lace up against Venezuela tomorrow.

The game against Peru was overly aggressive, and Almiron was also the victim of an intentional elbow to the face, but Peru’s Carlos Zambrano somehow managed to avoid a red card for that shocking assault.

All in all, Almiron only left the game with a pulled muscle, but the fact that he is being considered to start against Venezuela tomorrow is great news for the Toon. It is even better news for Almiron as he cannot afford to miss time with an injury after failing to regularly feature in the lineup this season.

Almiron was the first name on the team sheet all of last season, but Bruce now has more options in the squad and has been more experimental with his formations.

It remains to be seen how long it takes Almiron to win his place back into the lineup, if ever, but this injury boost will bode well for him as he aims to prove a point on Tyneside.
