11 Newcastle players land in FIFA 21’s top 1000 players
In the soon-to-be fully released FIFA 21, Newcastle United have 11 players among the best 1000 in the game.
EA Sports’ FIFA 21 has hit the shelves if you purchased the Ultimate Edition, but the standard version drops on Friday. Ahead of the full release, EA Sports released the 1000 top-rated players and Newcastle United was somewhat well represented.
The Magpies landed the following 11 players on the top 1000: Miguel Almiron, Martin Dubravka, Isaac Hayden, Federico Fernandez, Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune (on loan with Alaves), Matt Ritchie, Allan Saint-Maximin, Fabian Schar, Jonjo Shelvey, and Callum Wilson
Two of those players were in the top half of that group. Martin Dubravka is the 197th-ranked player in the new game, the highest-rated player for Newcastle, and the 28th best keeper. Among the Premier League goalkeepers, Dubravka is the eighth-best, notably ahead of Kepa and Jordan Pickford. He has an 86 rating on goalkeeper reflexes.
Following him at 444 is Allan Saint-Maximin. The star winger has 93 sprint speed, 93 acceleration, and 91 dribbling. He has five stars on skill moves and a high attack work rate.
After those two, the rankings were as such: Wilson at 703, Schar at 758, Almiron at 827, Ritchie at 898, Shelvey at 905, Lejeune at 949, Fernandez at 965, Lascelles at 972, and Hayden at 985.
In my opinion, Schar and Ritchie are too high while Shelvey and Lascelles are too low. Also, Ryan Fraser should have made the list and maybe an outside shout for Javier Manquillo. Shelvey’s long passing is ranked criminally low at 84 to go with 82 on short passing.
Other notable ratings include Almiron’s 87 agility, Lascelles’ 85 jumping, Wilson’s 81 finishing, and Schar’s 78 shot power.
