Newcastle United are set to welcome yet another player with great potential later this week.

Newcastle United will have their hands full on the pitch and in the front office this week. The Magpies will be in Carabao Cup action against League Two outfit Newport County later today, and will then play host to Burnley in the Premier League at St. James’ Park on Saturday.

In addition to preparing for two games in a short week, Newcastle United are waiting for the arrival of one of Peru’s rising stars Rodrigo Vilca. The latest reports claim that he will pack his bags and board a plane destined for Newcastle upon Tyne tomorrow.

The Magpies’ bid of £250,000 was accepted by Deportivo Municipal, and the club is excited about the opportunity to work with Vilca as they aim to groom him for Premier League football in the future.

At first it was not clear what the overall objective was with this signing, but a plan is now in place regarding his future on Tyneside.

While some fans might have assumed he would fight for a place in the first team, the Chronicle recently reported that the Peruvian midfielder will spend the rest of this season with the Under-23 squad.

The club will also be looking to loan him out to lower-league clubs in England before he gets a taste of the Premier League.

Former Magpie, and former Peru international, Nolberto Solano describes the youngster as a “technically gifted” player who has also attracted the attention of the national team with his recent performances.

The Toon Army were hoping to sign another player who would come in and have an immediate impact, but this type of business is just as important.

Investing in the future is critical, and Newcastle United have already benefited from the internal promotion of a few players in recent years, with the most notable cases being the Longstaff brothers.

As mentioned earlier, the deal for Vilca is not complete, but it is in the process of being finalized over the next two days.
