In the two Premier League matches between Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion last season, there were a combined zero goals scored.

Newcastle United has not defeated Brighton and Hove Albion since the clubs promoted to the Premier League together in 2017. Last season, there were no goals scored between the two sides in their two Premier League matches. Before the clubs face off this weekend, we look back at the two scoreless draws last campaign.

9/21/19: Newcastle United 0, Brighton and Hove Albion 0

At the end of both halves, Newcastle United was booed off the pitch at St. James’ Park. The club was still looking for their first win and played very defensively against a club that didn’t merit that kind of tactics.

Fabian Schar came up with the biggest play of the day for the Magpies as he acrobatically cleared a ball off the goalline in the second half.

Newcastle United turned in another dud when they faced Brighton at the Amex in July. They finished the match with less than 40% possession and only one shot on target.

The scoreless draw continued a rough stretch during Project Restart after some early success. It marked their final point of the season as they’d drop the season finale to Liverpool.
