Newcastle scored five goals in their matches vs. West Ham last season
Newcastle United and West Ham played some entertaining matches last Premier League season.
The 2020/21 Premier League season kicks off for Newcastle United on Saturday vs. West Ham United. If this weekend’s matchup is anything like last season’s fixtures between the two, it should be entertaining, to say the least.
11/2/19: Newcastle United 3, West Ham United 2
This match set the stage for November to be a big move for the Magpies. Newcastle entered the match with six goals from ten matches and scored three in this match alone. To take that a step further, they should have actually found the net more with Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron missing chances on the break.
None of the goals came from a striker or winger as Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez headed home two of them and Jonjo Shelvey cashed in a free kick from distance.
7/5/20: Newcastle United 2, West Ham United 2
In one of their final matches of the season, Newcastle United let the Hammers get ahead of them twice in the match. On the first West Ham score, Jamaal Lascelles completed whiffed on a clearance and allowed Michail Antonio to smash one home in the first five minutes of the match and the second WHU goal came on a rebound from a shot off the crossbar.
But, both times the Hammers scored, Newcastle had an answer as Miguel Almiron scored the first equalizer on an assist from Emil Krafth and Jonjo Shelvey scored the final tally of the match.
All-Time Series
Saturday’s match will be the 137th minute between the two clubs. Newcastle United have an edge in the series with 56 wins, 42 losses, and 38 draws. The Magpies have won six of the last ten matches.
