Newcastle United are focused on getting the best out of one particular player who struggled last season.

Newcastle United will be taking the pitch in two days to kick off the 2020-21 Premier League campaign against West Ham. All eyes will be on Steve Bruce to see what his tactical approach will be in this clash, and how many debutants will feature for Newcastle United.

Fans are excited about the club’s latest arrivals Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser, and Jamal Lewis, and there is also a lot of curiosity regarding potential departures. Various reports claim that the front office is trying to find suitors for Christian Atsu, Henri Saivet, Yoshinori Muto, Fabian Schar, and Florian Lejeune.

One other name that recently popped up in that discussion was Joelinton. According to a new report, Turkish giants Fenerbahce are interesting in securing the Brazilian’s services in a loan deal, but that will not happen.

In a recent interview, Bruce quickly addressed that rumor and shut it down. The former Manchester United legend made it clear that the Brazilian youngster is still in his plans this season despite his struggles last term. Bruce went on to make the following statement:

"For me, it’s all about creating a squad, and I hope Joe will rise to the challenge[…]We all know he’s a good player underneath it all. There’s a 24-year-old lad playing, getting used to the Premier League and he found it tough.[…]I hope he can play alongside him (Wilson) at times and do well."

Bruce is confident the club’s record signing will turn things around. Many fans, which includes us here at Newcastle Toons, believe that Wilson’s arrival will help take the pressure off Joelinton.

Everyone saw what the Brazilian is capable of in his time at Hoffenheim, and maybe that specific role and form will be emulated now that a true number nine is on the front line.
