Newcastle United have made their pitch and offered free agent Ryan Fraser a contract.
The clock is ticking much faster than Newcastle United are acting in the transfer window. Steve Bruce knows his side needs some upgrading in multiple areas across the pitch, but since the summer transfer window opened only two new faces have walked through the doors.
Newcastle United have completed multiple free transfers with Mark Gillespie (GK), Jeff Hendrick (MID), and Matty Longstaff (MID).
Last week it was reported that a deal for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson was unlikely due to his price tag and wage demands, but a new report today claims that an offer of cash plus winger Matt Ritchie has gained serious consideration from the Cherries’ front office.
It remains to be seen how much Newcastle United can knock off the £30m asking price in that deal, but sending a 31-year-old winger to a Championship side in return for a proven Premier League striker would be amazing business for the Toon.
In addition to that potential deal, a new report from the Telegraph claims that Newcastle United have tabled a formal contract offer to in-demand free agent Ryan Fraser.
The Scottish international has been on the Magpies’ radar for quite some time now, but it appears that a deal might be close.
Fraser, who scored 16 goals and provided 26 assists for Bournemouth in his four seasons with the club in the top flight, has attracted the attention of several clubs.
The report goes on to say that his camp is waiting to see if Arsenal or Celtic will make a late effort to sign him, but as things stand the only offer he is seriously contemplating is that from St. James’ Park.
Newcastle United need a dynamic winger who can create plays for himself and others on the wing opposite of Allan Saint-Maximin, and Fraser would be a perfect fit for that role.
With his quick feet, good vision, aggressive style of play, and ability to accurately hit the target from distance and tight angles, Fraser would be a solid addition to Newcastle United.
