With the club needing a starting-caliber player at left-back, Newcastle United have identified a player of interest.

This season, loanees Jetro Willems and Danny Rose were the primary players at left-back for Newcastle United. With both players heading back to their respective clubs as the season ended, the Magpies are in desperate need of a starter on the left flank. Now, they have targeted a player that would be a big boost at left-back.

PAOK left-back Dimitris Giannoulis is on the wish list for Steve Bruce ahead of this season, according to Sportime in Greece. He picked up three assists in Super League 1 play, adding one more in the playoff. Giannoulis also had two assists across Europa League and Champions League qualifying, also scoring vs. Slovia Bratislava.

Giannoulis also represents the Greek national team. For the senior side, he has made seven appearances since his debut in 2018. He picked up an assist on the lone goal of a EURO qualifying win over Armenia back in November.

The 24-year-old would fit well into what the Magpies are looking for and able to afford. He’s a promising player with good pace and skill on the ball. Giannoulis also does well to add to the attack, which is something every club needs in this era of Premier League soccer.

Newcastle will be competing with clubs like Watford and Marseille for the move that should cost less than 10 million. It’s a very reasonable price to pay for a player that will be entering their prime in the next few seasons, especially at a position that desperately needs some quality.
