An electric talent, Allan Saint-Maximin was exactly what Newcastle United needed this season.

Last summer, Newcastle United made the move to add a young, talented Frenchman from Nice. It didn’t take long for that player to become a fan favorite on Tyneside. We look back at the first year of Allan Saint-Maximin with the Magpies.

2019-20 EPL stats: 26 appearances, three goals, four assists, top three in the EPL in dribbles attempted and completed

Expert Breakdown

Durim Halimi: Allan Saint-Maximin proved that he is an integral component to the success of Newcastle United, and he is, hands down, a rising star in England.

The dynamic Frenchman confidently took defenders on and created meaningful chances with ease despite having minimal support in many instances.

Saint-Maximin is quite literally what many pundits would refer to as “instant offense”. His pace and technical skills enable him to get great looks at goal from distance and inside the box.

The Magpies’ star man on the wing was directly involved in seven league goals this past season, but fans will expect his final output to improve.

So long as Steve Bruce sticks with the 4-2-3-1 shape, Graeme Souness’ prediction will be spot on… Saint-Maximin will only get better.

Carson A. Merk: Simply put, Saint-Maximin is one of the most exciting players to watch in the Premier League. The Sauce Gawd, wearing his Gucci or Puma x Balmain headband, is always willing to dribble at opponents and often succeeds.

He was often the driving force of the action for Newcastle United, sometimes all by himself with the club sitting back and defending.

His finishing definitely could have been better and he will be expected to produce more goals and assists next season, but the Magpies have a star of their own in ASM.
