Newcastle should consider this young, out-of-favor striker
With Newcastle United searching for goals this summer, could Everton’s young striker be an option for the Magpies?
Last season in the Premier League, a club outside of the top six spent big money to add a young striker from another top European league and that player struggled in the 2019/20 season. Yes, that is all accurate of Newcastle United’s experience with adding Joelinton, but that also rings true for Everton, who had a similar disappointment with Moise Kean. But, could the Magpies actually benefit from making a move for the young Italian forward?
Kean made 29 league appearances for the Toffees this season, but he only started six of those matches. He finished his first season after leaving Juventus with two goals and two assists. His first score came against Newcastle in January before he scored in the finale vs. Bournemouth.
But, his breakthrough season for Juve in 2018/19 saw him score six goals in Serie A, while also playing in three Champions League matches.
It’s not a certainty that Everton will be ready to give up on the 20-year-old yet, but if Newcastle make a sizable enough offer, they may be willing to recoup some of the big money they spent to add him last summer. Kean would surely be motivated to prove himself after not getting much of a chance with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
The risk for Newcastle United would be bringing in another young striker that struggled in their first year in England. But, he is younger than Joelinton and succeeded for a larger club before his Premier League move.
