Newcastle United loaned in Valentino Lazaro from Inter Milan, but he only featured in a limited capacity.

Newcastle United are yet to make any decisions, at least not publicly, regarding the three players they loaned in during the January transfer window – Danny Rose, Valentino Lazaro, and Nabil Bentaleb.

The task at hand for the front office at St. James’ Park got easier for them as one loanee, Lazaro, has taken matters into his own hands. The Austrian international is looking to play on a team as a regular starter, something which seems unlikely at Newcastle United under Steve Bruce.

According to a new report from the Chronicle, Lazaro’s agent Max Hagmayr hinted that his client is close to securing a move to a team that will be competing in the Champions League.

The report goes on to say that the negotiations between Lazaro’s camp and the unnamed club are at an advanced level.

Opinion

Good for Lazaro. The 24-year-old winger deserves to play regular minutes, and Bruce’s limited use for Lazaro came as a surprise, especially during Project Restart.

Lazaro is a talented winger who boasts incredible pace, is technically gifted, delivers quality crosses from out wide, and he has a good eye for goal.

While at Newcastle United, Lazaro made 15 appearances across all competitions, but he only started on five occasions. Despite only playing for a total of 585 minutes, Lazaro did manage to make the most of his opportunities by scoring two goals.

Bruce should have given Lazaro more chances to play as a starter seeing that he is more dynamic than Matt Ritchie, but for reasons unknown to most of us, that was not the case.

With Lazaro’s return to Tyneside now ruled out, the Magpies will definitely be in the market for a winger who can provide that extra bit of quality across the front line.
