Recap

Newcastle United fell behind early as a creative training ground routine on a corner kick saw Harry Wilson, a Liverpool loanee, find the back of the net. DeAndre Yedlin was able to score his second-ever Premier League goal as his diving header pulled things level right before the half. He narrowly stayed onside and launched himself at the Saint-Maximin ball to the far post.

Another unexpected goal gave the Magpies the lead early in the second half. Jetro Willems cross was deflected and Federico Fernandez nodded it towards goal but not with enough power. Central defender Ciaran Clark was there to poke the ball in.

The victory over the Cherries was Newcastle’s second consecutive in the league, despite holding very little possession at home.

This match also featured the search for a goal for Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron. Both players had great chances and Saint-Maximin hit the crossbar and Almiron’s best chance actually hit a fallen ASM. Jamaal Lascelles also left due to injury in this one.
