Newcastle United seem to be on the verge of losing their promising midfielder.

The primary focus during the past few months has been on which players Newcastle United were targeting to add. The potential takeover has fans excited about who could join the Magpies, but according to the latest rumors, one of the club’s most promising players could leave Tyneside this summer.

Sky Sports reported that Matty Longstaff has received a considerable wage offer from Serie A side Udinese. According to the latest update, Udinese’s 30K offer for wages is double what Newcastle United has offered. With a five-year offer on the table and increased money, Longstaff will definitely have a tough decision on his hand if he prefers to stay with the Magpies as has been reported.

The 20-year-old came up through the Newcastle United Academy, alongside his older brother, Sean. This season, the younger Longstaff has played in 12 first-team matches and has scored three times. Despite his inexperience, he’s fearless in the middle of the park. Of the current players in the central midfield group, he’s arguably the most capable of dribbling the ball forward.

NUFC will get a chance to continue their FA Cup run. dark. Next

While the completion of the takeover will give everything a clearer picture, Newcastle should still extend Matty, even if he won’t be a mainstay in the midfield for the next season or two. It would be a chance to keep a promising player, something NUFC hasn’t had an abundance of, that is also a local lad. It would be a shame to see him walk out the door for essentially nothing, especially when the cost to keep him is so affordable.
