Newcastle United are reportedly targeting the English star.

As the dreadful wait continues for the Newcastle United takeover to be announced, the rumors are continuing to flow freely and the latest has the Magpies adding a world-class manager/striker pairing.

In an article by Todofichajes, Newcastle United are reportedly close to adding Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager. While that arrival would be exciting enough, the former Spurs manager has zeroed in on his top target when he takes the job.

Pochettino has reportedly identified striker Harry Kane, his former player at Tottenham, as the club’s focus this offseason.

The 26-year-old is a true goalscorer at the highest level.   He won the Premier League’s Golden Boot for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. During the 2017-18 Premier League campaign, he scored 30 goals for Tottenham.

This season, Kane has scored 11 goals in 20 Premier League matches while battling injuries. He excelled in the Champions League with six goals in five matches.  Last year, he returned from injury in the Champions League final vs. Liverpool, but he wasn’t at full strength as they were defeated, 2-0.

On the international stage, Kane has captained the Three Lions since 2017. He scored six goals at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in England’s run to the semifinals.

With rumors also linking him to clubs like Real Madrid, the cost to acquire Kane will be massive. But, Newcastle United would be signing one of the top strikers in the world, in his prime, and that’s something they’ve been missing desperately for years. Could Harry Kane become the next Alan Shearer for the Magpies? If the reports are true, he will get the chance to fill that role soon.
