Newcastle United have been linked with the explosive, young Mexican winger.

Previously linked with Dries Mertens, Newcastle United are now being tied to another attacking player from Napoli. According to TodoFichajes, the Magpies are interested in signing young Mexican star Hirving “Chucky” Lozano.

The 24-year-old signed in Naples last August and hasn’t thrived in Serie A as expected. He has just three goals in all competitions and has only played in 16 league matches.

Before Napoli, Chucky was a star with PSV in the Eredivisie. In both 2017-18 and 2018-19, he scored 17 goals and added 11 assists, in 29 and 30 league matches respectively. He also added two goals and one assist during the 18-19 Champions League.

Ahead of his move to PSV, he climbed the ranks with Pachuca in his native Mexico. He’s also made nearly 40 appearances for the Mexican national team and has ten goals, including the winner vs. Germany in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He also assisted on Chicharito’s match-winner vs. South Korea the next time out.

When in form, Lozano is an electric player out on the wing. Like Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin, he can create offense out of nothing with his pace and dribbling ability. The arrival of Chucky would give Newcastle’s attacking trio ages of 23 (ASM), 24 (Chucky), and 26 years old (Almiron). As we always mention, the arrival of a true winger would also allow Miggy to play in his best position as a number 10.

Outside of the ability and production he would be adding to the club, Lozano would bring some passionate Mexican soccer supporters to NUFC. The breakout play of Raul Jimenez has made Wolves a popular favorite English side amongst El Tri fans and if their young star Lozano joined a side on the rise like Newcastle, I think the fanfare would be even more intense.
