If the new ownership group brings Salomon Rondon back to Tyneside, they will be heroes to the Newcastle United supporters.

Newcastle United supporters will be over the moon whenever the ownership takeover occurs. Amanda Staveley, the Reuben Brothers, and the Saudi PiF will be well-received for ending Mike Ashley’s reign at the club. But, they will go to even another level of heroes if they bring a beloved former striker back to the Magpies.

Salomon Rondon has recently discussed how much he loved playing at “his jungle”, St. James’ Park. He also mentioned being open to and excited about a potential return to Newcastle United.

In his only season with the Magpies on loan, the powerful Venezuelan scored 12 goals and added seven assists. He became something of a folk hero amongst the Toon Army as he helped carry Rafa Benitez’s 2018-19 squad to a mid-table finish.

As for how it works on the pitch, Rondon is not an elite striker in comparison to other linked players like Edinson Cavani. But, he is established in the Premier League and also familiar with the club. With a strong, experienced striker that can get to his spots in the attack, Newcastle United would have addressed their biggest concern of the offseason. He had a good connection with Miguel Almiron and would surely work well with Allan Saint-Maximin.

Next. Steve Bruce should be allowed to finish the season. dark

Rondon currently plays for Rafa again in the Chinese Super League and he shouldn’t be a pricey move. If Newcastle United’s new ownership can bring Salomon Rondon back to St. James’ Park, something Mike Ashley specifically would never sign off on, they will be making a solid tactical decision for on the pitch that increases their likeability and goodwill with supporters off the pitch.
