Newcastle United is reportedly interested in 2019’s leading scorer in the world.

With a Saudi-backed takeover still processing for Newcastle United, the club could have their eyes on the biggest star in the Saudi Professional League.

According to Foot Mercato, Abderrazak Hamdallah is on the Newcastle United radar. The 29-year-old striker has drawn interest from Aston Villa, too.

Simply put, Al-Nassr’s Hamdallah is one of the most prolific scorers in the world at the moment. For 2019, he was literally the most prolific scorer. He buried 57 goals in all competitions and narrowly outscored Bayern Munich star, Robert Lewandowski.

In Al-Nassr’s title-winning campaign last season, Hamdallah scored 34 goals and assisted on nine more in 26 matches. He added four goals in the 2019 AFC Champions League and two more in the 2020 version of the tournament. During the 2019-20 Saudi Professional League season, Abderrazak, also known as Abdo, has netted 18 times in 19 matches.

While the Moroccan international has starred in Norway, China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco, he is unproven at the top leagues. But, that type of production should translate to at least decent numbers in the Premier League. His arrival would definitely help cement a considerable interest from Saudi soccer fans in Newcastle United moving forward.

With a reported release clause of 18 million, you are not breaking the bank for a world-class striker that is expected to carry the club. That is more in the price range of a quality player that can help a team. With a proven track record in every country he’s played in, Abderrazak Hamdallah is a safe bet to at least be a rotational contributor to the new-look Magpies.
