Newcastle United started off their December with an upset 2-0 win over Sheffield United.

This will be a chance for Steve Bruce’s side to take a double off of a top side this season as they defeated the Blades back in December. We revisit that upset win for the Magpies.

To get the win, the Magpies had two very different goals. Javier Manquillo floated a cross in from the right wing and Allan Saint-Maximin climbed the ladder to nod home the opening goal. He attacked the ball in the air and surprised the Blades early in the match. Jonjo Shelvey’s goal was more of an odd one. A long ball over the top was nodded on by Andy Carroll to Shelvey. The flag went up for offside, but Shelvey dribbled undefended towards goal and buried the shot with little resistance from Dean Henderson. A check from VAR revealed that Carroll was onside when the ball was played and the goal would stand and put the Magpies up 2-0. It was a heads up play from Shelvey and helped secure the surprise win.
