New takeover rumors regarding Newcastle United have hit the press this weekend. The Magpies’ potential transfer budget under Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud is mind blowing.

Go to the Sports section of any major media outlet around the world and you will come across a report claiming that the crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud, is ready to give Mike Ashley £340m to take Newcastle United off his hands. It is also rumored that the Reuben brothers, who made their fortune through property development, are also interested in entering negotiations with Ashley for the takeover of Newcastle United.

This article will focus on new details that have been reported in regard to Prince Salman. Before I go into more details, let me get something off my chest. I am well aware of the fact that we as fans have been down this road far too many times. Like many of you, I have become immune to these takeover rumors that pop up every few months, but this article is necessary just in case Prince Salman successfully negotiates a deal with Ashley. That would be a miracle, by the way.

That being said, a new report from The Sun claims that Newcastle United would be gifted quite the transfer war chest and these funds would be available immediately. According to the report, Prince Salman would provide the club with a staggering transfer balance of £200m, which is around $261,500,000.

This kind of transfer kitty would place Newcastle United at the same level as elite clubs across Europe, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG, to name a few. At present, the club is conservative when it comes to how money is spent. Ashley didn’t even use his own money to pay the £21.6m fee for Miguel Almiron in January of 2019, instead the club took out a loan from major investment bank Barclays.

Things would be very different with Prince Salman in charge. One can assume that the quality of players walking through the doors would be elite footballers who could set Newcastle United up for a new Entertainers Era in the coming years. If teams like Manchester City, Leicester City and Wolverhampton can experience a major resurgence in English football, so can Newcastle United.

Next. How will Lazaro and Bentaleb fit into Newcastle United?. dark

Until that happens, though, we can only imagine who the club would sign with all that money. For now, the players should solely be focused on maintaining their Premier League status as soon as possible. With 30 points heading into February, the Magpies are only a handful of wins and draws away from officially avoiding relegation.
