As his struggles intensify, Joelinton could benefit from a loan away from Newcastle United.

Anyone that has watched Newcastle United this season knows how disappointing Joelinton has been so far. The record-breaking signing has only scored one goal this season and has put ten of his 32 shots on target in the EPL. After he struggled again in NUFC’s FA Cup match vs. League One side Rochdale, it is time for Newcastle to consider loaning him out this month.

The 23-year-old striker could benefit from some time away from Tyneside. His confidence is definitely low and the pressure on him as a big-money signing is immense. He somewhat consistently gets into positive areas, including a nice dribbling run vs. Rochdale, but it’s simply the act of finishing in those areas that’s betrayed him. He wasn’t a prolific scorer before arriving at Newcastle, only scoring 14 Bundesliga goals in the last two seasons with Hoffenheim and Rapid Vienna. But, he’s now the top money striker for a Premier League side that at least needs some consistency from him.

The Magpies could look to send him down to a Championship side that needs some attacking help for their stretch run. Playing in the second division would allow him to continue to adjust to English soccer while not dealing with the pressure of the Premier League or the overall skill. A team like Nottingham Forest, in the top-four on the table but struggling to score, could benefit from the physical presence and potential of Joelinton.

When he signed from Hoffenheim, he inked a six-year deal that runs until 2025. While the deal is looking like poor business so far, Newcastle should be patient with him in the grand scheme of things and not sell him or anything abrupt. But, a loan move for him to get his confidence back up could be exactly what the Brazilian needs.
