We preview the Boxing Day fixture between Newcastle United and Manchester United with FanSided’s Red Devil Armada.

Newcastle United will try to win their second match in a week when they face Manchester United on the road in two days. To preview the Boxing Day action, we caught up with FanSided’s Manchester United blog, Red Devil Armada.

Newcastle Toons: Over the weekend, David de Gea had a major gaffe to allow a goal in the loss vs. Watford. What is going on with the former star goalkeeper?

Red Devil Armada: It’s a strange one really after he’s had so many solid years he’s really struggling at the moment. Perhaps, he’s demotivated and it’s making him lose concentration on the pitch.

NT: Newcastle defeated the Red Devils 1-0 at St. James’ Park in October. What has changed at Manchester United since then?

RDA: Not a lot really we are still beating the big teams but struggling against the ‘smaller’ sides as Sunday’s game proved.

NT: The Magpies will be without Allan Saint-Maximin and their captain, Jamaal Lascelles. What players are you most cautious of for Thursday’s match?

RDA: I would say Shelvey and Carroll are the main ones to fear. Deeney dominated the game on Sunday and I fear Carroll could do the same.

NT: With two wing-backs and three central defenders, Steve Bruce has lined up his side with essentially a five-man backline. How will Manchester United be able to break that unit down?

RDA: It will be difficult, but Pogba came on against Watford and looked fit. If we are to break them down, it will be up to him.

NT: Official prediction for the match?

RDA: I’m going for a 1-1 draw I fancy Newcastle scoring against us and can’t see United scoring more than one goal.

NT: Outside of the match, how much longer do you think the leash will be for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?

RDA: Certainly patience is running out, but I think he will be trusted with the job at least until after January. But he needs to pick up points against the lesser teams. Hopefully, he’ll prove me wrong and start doing it against Newcastle.
