Newcastle United have a difficult match against Manchester City tomorrow, but some results around the Premier League could help them keep their mid-table position.

Newcastle United expected to claim a positive result against Aston Villa on Monday, but now they have to make up for that loss against a Manchester City side that is on a mission to stay competitive in the title race. That being said, Newcastle United are major underdogs in this clash and a loss is the most likely outcome, but here are some results from around the league that could help the Magpies.

Liverpool vs. Brighton

  • Brighton are currently level with Newcastle United on points, but they are two places above the Toon due to goal differential. As a result, a big win for Liverpool at Anfield is just what Newcastle United need this weekend.

Burnley vs. Crystal Palace

  • This is a tough one to determine, but the best result would be a draw. A draw could put Burnley four points ahead of Newcastle United, but it would keep the Magpies within one point of Crystal Palace. Moreover, the Magpies could make up ground when they face Burnley in a few weeks.

Chelsea vs. West Ham

  • West Ham are 17th in the table with 13 points and Newcastle United need the Hammers’ poor run of form to continue. A win for Chelsea would be good news for Steve Bruce and his squad.

Tottenham vs. Bournemouth

  • Tottenham are only two points ahead of Newcastle United, but we know that will not be the case for long. Bournemouth are only one point ahead of the Magpies and the smaller the gap between the two teams, the better it is for Newcastle United. In other words, the Toon need Spurs to win.

Southampton vs. Watford

  • A draw would be the best possible result between these two teams in the relegation zone. A draw would give the Saints ten points and Watford nine points, which means Newcastle United would still be five and six points ahead of both clubs even if they lose to Man City.

Norwich City vs. Arsenal

  • Seeing that this match involves another team in the relegation zone, the longer Norwich City stay in the drop zone, the better it would be for Newcastle United. A victory for Arsenal is the best bet for the Magpies.

Wolverhampton vs. Sheffield United

  • This battle between fifth and sixth in the table will be interesting, but a Wolves win would benefit Newcastle United. A loss for Sheffield United would keep Newcastle United within three points of the Blades before playing them next week. Also, a loss for Sheffield United might hurt their confidence before playing the Magpies, who might enter that match with back-to-back losses.

Leicester City vs. Everton

  • Everton are a team in crisis mode at the moment and that situation benefits Newcastle United. Everton are currently 16th with 14 points, so a loss would keep them below the Magpies for at least one more week.

Manchester United vs. Aston Villa

  • A loss for Aston Villa is the best result for Newcastle United. The team that beat the Toon on Monday is only one place and point behind them in the table. Moreover, Villa play Chelsea and Leicester City next, so they could stay below Newcastle United for the next two weeks.
