Steve Bruce has done more than enough to prove that he is the right man for the job at Newcastle United. It’s time for the Toon Army to show him their full support.

Newcastle United are flying high at the moment after claiming back-to-back wins against West Ham (A) and Bournemouth (H). These consecutive positive results have enabled the Magpies to climb as high as 11th in the standings and are only two points shy of the top six.

The Toon Army were devastated when the club announced the departure of Rafa Benitez and many fans were frustrated when Steve Bruce was named as his replacement. If you at look the club’s results this season, though, Bruce deserves nothing but praise. The Magpies have taken points from seven matches this season, are looking dangerous in the 3-4-3 formation, and the players are tuned into Bruce’s philosophy.

Fabian Schar recently stated that he believes Newcastle United are a better team this year and I have to agree with him. The squad hasn’t changed much since last season, but the tactics and player roles have been modified. Working under the shadow of Benitez is no easy task, but I think Bruce has done a phenomenal job handling the internal pressure from fans and the external pressure from pundits in the media.

Benitez’s objective with the Magpies was to reach 20 points by the end of December, but Bruce has already claimed 15 points and his squad still has some winnable matches against Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Southampton, Burnley and Crystal Palace coming up before the end of December.

The sooner fans start backing Bruce and the team, the sooner this team can comfortably avoid relegation and achieve a top ten finish. Benitez is long gone and fans need to realize that. A new man is on the sideline at St. James’ Park and he is getting the job done with partial support from the stands, but he deserves their full support, especially now when momentum is on the Magpies’ side.
