Newcastle United will kick off their 2019-20 Premier League campaign tomorrow against Arsenal at St. James’ Park.

The new Premier League season is finally here and Newcastle United will be in action tomorrow when they host Arsenal at St. James’ Park. Last season’s Europa League finalists enter this match as favorites to win, but the first weekend of Premier League action is known as the weekend of surprises. Both teams have improved their rosters by signing multiple quality players over the summer, so both set of fans will be curious to see how many players will make their debuts.

Newcastle United lost their top scorers Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon over the summer, but the club replaced them with Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin. These two players are expected to start on Sunday and they are capable of causing problems for Arsenal’s back-line. The same observation was also noted by our FanSided colleagues at Pain in the Arsenal in our collaboration article earlier this week. Miguel Almiron will also be expected to have a big role tomorrow, but fans hope he can be more clinical in front of goal. In preseason, Almiron had several good looks at goal, but failed to score.

The Magpies’ back-line must be on their A game tomorrow against a stacked attacking unit. It is unclear whether or not Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe will play against Newcastle United due to their fitness levels. Their absence or limited action would be great news for Jamaal Lascelles and company, however, Arsenal still have Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang leading the front-line and he will certainly force Martin Dubravka to make some quick saves.

All eyes will be on Steve Bruce, though, as fans want to see how well his new philosophy will hold up against a top six opponent to start the season. Fans are still divided about his appointment as manager, but he seems determined to prove doubters wrong. Bruce has only had three weeks to work with his new team, so it is fair to say that the Toon will be the most unpredictable side in the league this weekend.

Our colleagues at Pain in the Arsenal predicted a 3-2 victory for the Gunners. Here are our predictions for tomorrow’s match:

Durim Halimi: Newcastle United 2-1 Arsenal

Carson A. Merk: Newcastle United 1-3 Arsenal
