The new Premier League season is almost upon us and that means Premier League Fantasy is booming at the moment.

Newcastle United are still trying to polish up their roster by bringing in one or two more players before August 8th, but we as fans can begin building our own squads today. Fans can begin utilizing their £100 budget to purchase 15 players and create the best Premier League Fantasy team they can. Thus far, over two million contestants have registered for the online competition, which  includes our editorial staff, and we hope you all join our league, Newcastle Toons 2019-20, by using the following code: wx8nxb.

Now that you know where you can go up against Durchester United FC (yours truly), let us take a look at five players from Newcastle United worth purchasing or drafting in Premier League Fantasy this season.

Martin Dubravka

  • Position: GK
  • Cost: £5.0

Martin Dubravka is one of the most reliable and consistent goalkeepers in the Premier League. He has only been with the Magpies for one-and-a-half seasons, yet he has already claimed 15 clean sheets, made 121 saves and has only made four errors leading to goals. He finished in the top seven in most categories for his position last season.

Fabian Schar

  • Position: DEF
  • Cost: £5.0

One reason why Dubravka is such a good keeper in the Top Flight is because he has defenders like Fabian Schar in front of him. The Swiss international might dock you points with yellow cards, but he makes up for it with clean sheets. It’s also worth mentioning that he scored four goals last season, including this Messi-style run from midfield:

Miguel Almiron

  • Position: MID
  • Cost: £6.0

Miguel Almiron is the most talented player on the roster and his role is to serve as the primary playmaker up top. The second half of last season was an adjustment period for Almiron, but look for the attacking midfielder to complete several assists, score some goals and have multiple shots on target in every match.

Sean Longstaff

  • Position: MID
  • Cost: £5.0

There is some competition in midfield between Jonjo Shelvey, Ki Sung-yueng and Isaac Hayden, but Sean Longstaff is expected to be the go-to-man in the middle of the park this season. He is a disciplined tackler, has good vision and is not afraid to take a few shots from distance. There is a reason why Manchester United were going crazy over the 21-year-old this summer.

Joelinton

  • Position: FWD
  • Cost: £6.0

For some people Joelinton will be perceived as a gamble, however, he has been a stud in his first few pre-season friendlies for Newcastle United. Moreover, Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon are gone, so Joelinton will be the top dog on the front-line for the Magpies. In addition to being expected to be the leading scorer this season, Joelinton managed to complete nine assists last season for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, so look for him to be directly involved in most of the team’s goals.
