Martin Dubravka played every Premier League minute for Newcastle United this season.

Newcastle United experienced another up and down season before finishing in a respectable position on the table. Despite the major swings in form and results, one thing was constant the entire season: Martin Dubravka in goal. The Slovakian played every second of the EPL campaign for Newcastle United and put up some solid numbers, outside of a few rough matches. We look back on his marathon season.

My hat goes off to Newcastle United for bringing Martin Dubravka in last season. For the second straight term, Dubravka has been a reliable keeper and he ranked in the top eight for most categories applicable to a goalie. He did make some unexpected mistakes in two games this season, but, for the most part, he has been solid between the sticks for the Toon.

Having only played in England for 18 months, the fact that the Slovakian has managed to claim 11 clean sheets is remarkable. His consistency in goal is also a major reason why Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman remained on the sidelines all season. My expectation is that Dubravka will be the number one keeper all season long unless an injury forces him off the pitch.

It was comforting knowing every match that Martin Dubravka would be between the pipes. For most of the season, he was surehanded and reliable, making big saves when needed. The other times, with some uncharacteristic mistakes, he was able to push past the poor form and get back to racking up clean sheets.

He is the absolute starter in goal for Newcastle United in 2019-20. There have been rumors for about the last year that a big club might swoop for him, but he seems content on Tyneside and the club should keep him around for the foreseeable future. He’s a central piece to this Newcastle United roster.
