Dubravka’s Stability

Martin Dubravka is one of the most talented goalkeepers in the Premier League and he showed his worth once again. In fact, Dubravka played so well for the Magpies that he earned a spot in Juventus’ scouting report. Dubravka’s performances this season were a major reason why Newcastle maintained their Premier League status for next term.

So, just how good was Dubravka this season? Well, for starters, he was untouchable in the eyes of Rafa Benitez as the Slovakian keeper played every single minute for Newcastle. Dubravka’s season consisted of the following statistics and league rankings:

  • 95 saves (10th in EPL)
  • 11 Clean Sheets (6th in EPL)
  • 48 Goals Conceded (N/A)
  • 3 errors leading to goals (N/A)

The stats show that Dubravka has been a top player for Benitez and some of his saves were the difference between a win and a draw, or a draw and a loss. Although Dubravka is being praised here, it is worth mentioning that he has committed some costly mistakes, with his error against Wolverhampton in stoppage time costing Newcastle precious points. Then again, being a keeper in the best league in the world is not easy, but Dubravka’s quick reactions have helped Newcastle solidify their place in the middle of the Premier League pack.
